Michael Gregory @ Nancy Hoffman Gallery
There is something obvious about these contemporary American pastoral paintings that is really haunting. The paintings are quiet, minimal, the compositions are very central, classic but fresh, very American (barns, silos, identifiable western landscape, etc.), and so tight that they’re ready to fall apart (in a great way). They’re really beautiful and there’s a lot of exciting things going on with the paint. They’re worth sitting in front of for a few minutes.
